From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect learning which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
